After a slight delay in travel to Port Huron on 11 July, the Wahoo’s of Royal Oak arrived to take on their very excellent hosts, the Welkins. It was a warm day that brought out an appreciative amount of cranks.

The visiting Club started the match with 2 tallies in the 1st inning and 3 more in the 2nd. The fine Welkin team threatened to tally in every one of the first 4 innings, but were unable to, due mostly to some fine plays by the Wahoo’s and a little bit of good fortune.
Port Huron scored its first ace in the 5th inning, and tallied 2 more in the 6th. However, after 6 innings, the Wahoo’s held a 10 – 3 advantage. The guests tallied 2 more in the 7th, and 1 in the 9th inning. The Welkins never gave up, puting strikers on the sacks in the 9th inning, but they were only able to tally 1 additional ace. The final account was 13 – 4, favoring Royal Oak. It was a well played match by both Clubs, on a very unique ball field, in a very nice town on a river.
A happy sight for the travelling Wahoos!
The two Clubs will see each other on one more occasion this season. A Tournament hosted by the Northville Eclipse on 25 July is up next for these two. Join us if you can for a fun day for the entire Family.
